Dan Cristiani Excavating Company’s operation consists of more than 150 machines. Historically, lubrication servicing has been a logistical challenge, specifically requiring employees to travel from its main shop to remote locations. At the time, the company used more than 30 oils throughout its operation. In an effort to streamline operations, Dan Cristiani Excavating Company worked with a Mobil Delvac™ lubricant distributor as well as the Mobil℠ Technical team to help reduce the amount of required lubrication maintenance in its remote equipment.
Following an on-site analysis of current lubrication usage, the Mobil℠ Technical team developed a customized “lube chart” intended to guide operators through the necessary steps and frequency of lubrication maintenance. In addition, the Mobil℠ Technical team suggested the company use Mobil Centaur™ Moly 2 grease in its dump truck trunnions - which is formulated to protect against water contamination and handle heavy loads - in order to extend oil drain intervals and ultimately reduce the amount of required lubrication-related equipment maintenance. Finally, the Mobil℠ Technical team recommended the company implement routine Mobil℠ Lubricant Analysis to maximize oil life and keep a steady pulse on operating conditions.
By following the Mobil℠ Technical team’s recommendations to streamline its operation, Dan Cristiani Excavating Company was able to maximize machine availability and component life.
The company reports that by maximizing machine availability and component life, it reduced lubrication-related maintenance labor by 16 hours, generating company-estimated annual savings of CAD $46,408.
